TNH Social Enterprise Coffee Cart Team

SUPPORTED INTERNSHIPS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH IDV

Based at the Thomastown Library, TNH runs a social enterprise Coffee Cart MON- FRI 9am- 12pm,  staffed by a small team of young people with intellectual disabilities.  TNH works in partnership with IDV to provide supported internships for our Coffee Cart Team members to provide community connection and stepping stones towards employment.   The supported internships provide a safe and supportive environment for young adults with disabilities to receive barista training and also develop a wide variety of skills for the workplace such as customer service, communication skills, team work, attention to detail, problem solving, multi tasking, confidence using point of sale technology, basic math and money handling skills and health and safety.

Our chief Barista, Andy Whincup, who works at the TNH Coffee Cart daily, was recently presented by Andrew Giles, MP with a SCULLIN COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER AWARD!

Community Activities & Food Relief Team

TNH could not achieve all that it does in the community without the efforts of our hard working Volunteer Team.  TNH provides volunteer opportunities for community members in need from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds including migrants, refugees and international students.  Our community activities team work in roles to support the TNH Wellness Activities and Food Relief Events and these roles provide:

  • skill development in community support, community strengthening and community building

  • Provide work experience in community services and community development

  • Provide work experience in working with people with disabilities

  • Develop English language skills

  • Develop understanding of the community sector

  • Develop communication skills and confidence

  • Provide valuable stepping stones to paid employment
